The year was 1986. I was a 12 year old gal who was trying way way way too hard to fit in with the cool kids.
Even back then I struggled between what they were doing and wearing and who I knew I was.
Those pants I'm wearing? They are buffalo plaid monster fur pants. I had them in red, blue and yellow. Yup. Even back then while trying to fit in, I was still standing out. Still different than everyone else.
The two years I spent at that school at the time were the worst two years of my life. Looking back, who I was and who I am today was formed and placed in cement in those two years. I owe everyone in that school who knew who I was better than I did a huge thank you. If not for them, I wouldn't be who I am today.
